OTIBLOCK®, available as spray and drops, was launched in Spain in 2016 backed by ENT specialists’ opinion, and is now commercialized in 12 countries.
The product has two main advantages over the existing options in the market:
A slightly acidic external ear canal pH plays a key role precluding bacterial growth.
This pH is often neglected, and most of the available products on the market to treat earwax impaction, have an alkaline pH. OTIBLOCK® is formulated with a buffer solution to help to maintain the correct pH.
OTIBLOCK® works as a true cerumenolytic, breaking earwax down in contrast to many oil-based products that work only as lubricants. Thanks to its cerumenolytic properties can prevent in many cases from further ENT manipulation and this property makes OTIBLOCK® particularly appropriate as a preventive treatment for people prone to the formation of earwax plugs.
How does it work?
When spray into the ear canal, OTIBLOCK® liberates oxygen and the bubbles in the liquid break up earwax plug into small fragments.
Furthermore, thanks to the product’s aqueous characteristics, the fragments are dissolved into even smaller particles, which may leave the ear spontaneously or be removed more easily by your doctor, if manual intervention is deemed necessary.
OTIBLOCK® is oil-free.
The product drains away without leaving unpleasant oily residues.
Unlike sea water and other saline solutions, OTIBLOCK® helps to maintain the physiological pH of the ear.
